El Copríncep Episcopal d'Andorra, Mons. Joan-Enric Vives, ha presidit la nit del 2 d'abril el sopar de gala amb què ha finalitzat la visita del Secretari General de les Nacions Unides, Sr. Ban Ki-moon, al Principat d'Andorra. L'acte s'ha celebrat a Casa Canut Hotel, d'Escaldes.
El Copríncep Episcopal s'ha reunit amb el Secretari General de les Nacions Unides abans del sopar en un encontre en el qual han pogut parlar d'alguns temes d'interès per a la comunitat internacional i molt especialment sobre l'aportació de les religions a la pau al món, de la situació dels refugiats sirians i el moment actual dels drets humans al món.
Els parlaments que el Copríncep i el Secretari General han fet durant el sopar han estat introduïts pel M.I. Sr. Síndic, Vicenç Mateu.
A la trobada personal prèvia al sopar hi han assistit el Representant del Copríncep, M.I. Mn. Josep M. Mauri, i el Director de Gabinet del Copríncep francès, M.I. Sr. Pascal Escande, a més de dos membres del staff de les Nacions Unides.

Excel•lentíssim Senyor Secretari general i esposa,
Acompanyants de la Delegació.
Molt Il•lustre Sr. Síndic i Cap de Govern, Representants dels Coprínceps,
Ministres, Consellers, Ambaixadors,
Digníssimes Autoritats, Senyores i Senyors,
1. És un gran honor per a mi que en nom de tot el poble del Principat d'Andorra us doni la més cordial acollida i us faci arribar el goig que tots sentim de compartir aquest àpat oficial en terra andorrana, que ens uneix en una fraternitat plena de pau i d'esperança. A través de la Vostra persona se'ns fa propera la comunitat de les nacions del món, amb els seus anhels i esperances, amb les seves preocupacions i pluralitat. Gràcies Excel•lència per haver-nos dedicat el vostre interès, venint a casa nostra, que és també casa vostra.
2. El proper 28 de juliol de 2013 celebrarem els 20 anys que el Principat d'Andorra fou acollit a les Nacions Unides, com el seu Estat membre número 184è., i ara us estem molt agraïts per la Vostra presència, Excm. Sr. Secretari General, per haver vingut a Andorra i pel vostre interès pel nostre petit país dels Pirineus europeus. Som una vella pàtria amb una llengua i cultura pròpies, la catalana, nació amiga dels seus veïns, als quals tant devem, França i Espanya, amb qui mantenim lleials i bones relacions de col•laboració, i amb unes relacions de germanor amb Europa i els altres continents.
Andorra obtenia així, fa vint anys, els objectius de normalització i d'integració a la comunitat internacional, per cooperar decididament a la mesura de les nostres possibilitats a la construcció i al manteniment de la pau i de la justícia a tot arreu.
3. Enmig d'un món globalitzat, immers en un procés de continus canvis i de nous reptes, Andorra s'alça a la recerca del seu propi encaix dins el concert de les Nacions, sense perdre els trets que li han fet possible arribar on som.
Estem celebrant el 20è aniversari de la Constitució democràtica del Principat d'Andorra. El poble andorrà, en exercici de la seva sobirania, es proclamà com a "Estat independent, de Dret, Democràtic i Social", culminació d'un llarg procés històric que prové de l'Edat Mitjana i que es presenta avui com un estat modern, amb identitat pròpia i singular, prototipus de societat que viu en pau i concòrdia.
D'això en són bona mostra els "Pareatges" de 1278, fonament de la nostra història i exemple fefaent d'un dels signes identitaris de tota democràcia: el pacte.
Uns pactes que implicaren negociació, cessió i respecte en defensa de la identitat pròpia, la sobirania i la independència del nostre Principat de la qual, els Coprínceps en som garants.
Un diàleg i uns pactes que, en definitiva, també avui es fan presents de manera especial davant dels nous reptes que viu el país i que, n'estic convençut, el poble andorrà sabrà trobar els camins que continuïn garantint el seu futur com a Estat independent, de Dret, Democràtic i Social.
4. El nostre poble té un lema ancestral a l'escut: "Virtus, unita, fortior" (la força, unida, és més forta) que ha acompanyat el nostre poble durant la seva història. Per això Andorra ha de continuar fidel al seu ideal d'exercici dels drets fonamentals de la persona plasmats en el nostre text constitucional, i a fer que el nostre lema nacional "Virtus, Unita, Fortior", segueixi essent una divisa plenament vigent i orienti les actuacions dels andorrans i de les institucions del país sempre cap al bé més gran.
És per tot això que volem agrair-vos, Excm. Sr. Secretari General, per la vostra presència a Andorra i agrair de manera especial l'impuls de les NN.UU. al procés d'internacionalització del nostre Principat d'Andorra.
5. Però també jo somio. És inherent a la natura humana somiar fites més altes... I veient-vos al meu davant, Excel•lència, hi veig l'agermanament dels pobles del món, i somio una Organització de les Nacions Unides que fomenti la pau, el desenvolupament i el respecte pels drets humans, així com la sanitat, l'educació, la lluita contra la pobresa, el tràfic de persones i drogues; la resposta davant els desastres naturals, la protecció dels refugiats, el canvi climàtic i el medi ambient entre molts altres subjectes. Cap altra organització del món encarna tants somnis entre els joves. No els podem defraudar. No podem abaratir el somni, ni tampoc frustrar-lo. Us desitjo molt d'encert, Sr. Secretari general, així com a l'Assemblea general i al Consell de Seguretat. Els moments presents de la humanitat i de la pau mundial són greus i preocupants. Però amb la vostra dedicació i la nostra col•laboració anirem endavant. Aquest és el meu desig i la meva esperança, que compartim amb el Copríncep francès, S.E. Mr. François Hollande que avui també s'uneix a aquest sopar en honor vostre, benvolgut Sr. Secretari General i de la vostra distingida esposa.
Sempre podreu comptar amb l'estima, la comprensió i el compromís del nostre Principat d'Andorra.

His Excellency the Secretary-General and Your distinguished Wife,
Delegates
M.I. Síndic and Head of government, delegates of the Co-princes,
Ministers, Deputies, Ambassadors,
Distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen.
1. Your Excellency.- It is a great honor for me to give you a warm welcome, in the name of all the people of Andorra, and to be able to express the joy we all feel, to share in our land of Andorra this official meal that unites us in a brotherhood full of peace and hope. Through your person, we can be next to the community of all the nations in the world, to their hopes and dreams, with their concerns and plurality. Thanks Excellency for having spent your interest, coming to our house, which is also you house and your home.
2. On July 28th 2013 we will celebrate the 20th anniversary that the Principality of Andorra was welcomed at the United Nations, as its 184th State member, and we are grateful for your presence, Secretary-general, for coming to Andorra and for your interest in our small country in the Pyrenees in Europe. We are an old country with its own language and culture, the Catalan culture, a friendly nation with its neighbors, France and Spain, who remains loyal and in good relations of cooperation and brotherhood with Europe and other continents.
Andorra, twenty years ago, obtained the objectives of standardization and integration in the international community to cooperate decisively in the measure of our possibilities, to build and maintain peace and justice everywhere.
3. In the middle of a globalized world, inside a process of continuous changes and new challenges, Andorra rises in search of their own place in the concert of nations, without losing the characteristics that have made it possible to reach where we are.
The 20th anniversary of our democratic Constitution of Andorra is our joy in these days. The people of Andorra, in the exercise of its sovereignty, proclaims itself as an "independent State, under the Law, and a Social and Democratic country" culmination of a long historical process that comes from the Middle Ages and today appears as a modern state with its own identity and unique prototypes of society that lives in peace and harmony.
It is really showed at the "Pareatges" signed in 1278, the foundation of our history and irrefutable example of one of the identifying signs of any democracy: the pact.
Those pacts implicated negotiation and agreements, assignment and respect about the defense of our own identity, sovereignty and independence of our Principality which were guaranteed, by the Co-Princes, both the episcopal and French.
Dialogue and additional agreements that ultimately are present even today in a special way in front of the new challenges that our country has to face, and I am convinced that the Andorran people will know how to find the ways to continue to secure its future as a State independent with law, democracy and social work.
4. Our Nation has an ancestral motto in its shield: "Virtus, Unita, Fortior" (force with union, becomes stronger) that accompanied our people throughout history. That is why Andorra has to remain faithful to the ideal of the exercise of fundamental rights of the individual reflected in our Constitution, and make our national motto "Virtus, Unita, Fortior", continues to be a completely valid principle and give the orientation of Andorra and the people and the institutions of the country always towards the greatest good.
That is why we want to thank you, Mr. Secretary-general, for your presence in Andorra, and in particular to thank the UN for the promotion of the process of internationalization of our Principality of Andorra.
5. But I also had a dream... It is inherent in human nature to dream higher goals... Seeing you before me, Excellency, I see not only your person but the brotherhood of the peoples of the world. And I dream an Organization of the United Nations that promotes peace, development and respect for human rights; but also health care, education, fight against poverty, human trafficking and drugs; responses in front of natural disasters, refugee protection, climate change and the environment among many other subjects. No other organization in the world embodies so many dreams among young people. We cannot disappoint them. We cannot lower the dream, nor frustrated him. Let me wish you great success, Mr. Secretary-General, as well as to the General Assembly and the Security Council. The present of humanity and world peace are serious and troubling. But with your dedication and our collaboration we will go ahead. This is my wish and my hope, that we share with the French Co-prince of Andorra, H. E. Mr. François Hollande, who is united with us in this dinner in Your honor, dearest Secretary-general and your distinguished Wife.
You can always count on the love, comprehension and commitment of our Principality of Andorra.
